My Journey and Why I Became a Counselor:
The reason I became a counselor, and developed a passion for learning evidence-based skills using the mind and body, was first to learn how to cope with my own struggle with negative emotions. I wanted to break free from the emotional prison that was keeping me paralyzed. I was unable to reach my full potential and enjoy life to the fullest. The reason why I enjoy helping others using mind and body techniques, is because what I have learned from over 9 years of studying and over 3000 hours of working with my clients has saved me. I have broken free from the chains of my emotions that were held not just mentally, but physically in my body. My tailored and targeted approaches with my clients have allowed me to teach others how to gain this freedom for themselves, and allowed myself, and my clients to reach their potential, find true happiness, and internal peace.
Imagine waking up every day ready to take on any challenge with the confidence of knowing you can overcome any obstacle using your body and mind. Imagine if you could stop envying others because you are completely happy with the amazing person you are. Imagine if you could be fully present, instead of constantly worrying about the next thing that needs to be done in your day. Imagine if you could stop being a prisoner to unhealthy coping skills at the hands of your own negative emotions? You no longer have to imagine a life of happiness, peace, and freedom. The purpose of somatic psychotherapy groups and individual sessions:
To help clients learn to use the powerful connection between the mind & body to achieve a state of balance, relaxation & wellbeing.
To help clients process trauma and associated dissociative symptoms.
To create hemispheric integration and heal neurotransmitter imbalances to treat symptoms of mental health disorders.
To help partners use their bodies and minds to connect and communicate with one another to cultivate an environment of compassion, empathy, and equality.
The latest research in mental health has shown that the use of the physical body in counseling through the use of somatic psychotherapy can optimize the use of talk therapy in the treatment of trauma, anxiety, depression, and related disorders.
Through the use of somatic psychotherapy along side traditional talk therapy, you will learn techniques to carry with you into your daily life that give you the power to regain balance when you start to feel your emotions are taking control of you.
